Until now, there was no formal way for businesses to be recognized for achieving Zero Waste according to consistent standards. To address this growing need, Zero Waste Canada (ZWC) has established Canada’s first Zero Waste Business Recognition Program in collaboration with Zero Waste International Alliance.
Zero Waste advocacy groups are planning a protest and public rally at the Incinerator Industry Conference in Richmond, BC on Wednesday, April 10 at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond. 
As we embrace the holiday season we generate more garbage than any other time of year. Many of us live in a place where the waste is taken to the magic land of "away", and we don't have to worry about it.
British Columbia is transitioning responsibility for end-of-life management of packaging and printed paper (PPP) from governments and their taxpayers to industry and their consumers. Multi-Material British Columbia (MMBC) is a not-for-profit agency established under the British Columbia Society Act. Multi-Material British Columbia (MMBC) is developing a packaging and printed paper (PPP) stewardship plan. They recently posted the draft plan for stakeholder review. Barbara Hetherington of Gibsons Recycling Depot addresses her many concerns with the proposed plan.
